About

Hi I’m Cecily,

I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator. I provide services prenatally through birth and the early postpartum in Monterey County. I believe that every family that wants a doula should be able to have one.  One of my life philosophies is that there is no one right way to live and I bring that philosophy with me in my Birth and Postpartum work and say there is no one right way to Birth or Parent! Whether you are having an all-natural physiologic birth, induction, cesarean, breast or bottle feeding, I can be there to support you during your birth and postpartum experiences! My role as a doula is to support and guide you as you step into your own power and welcome your baby with confidence and love.

My passion in this field came with my experiences of the births of my two sons.  I loved reading the different books on natural childbirth and preparing my birth plan. I was mocked for my plan in wanting led candle light and music playing in my hospital room.  A natural hospital birth we were planning. But, things do not always go the way we plan in the hospital regardless of how much we prep. We were prepared on how we wanted a natural birth and the stages of labor, but we were not prepared on how to navigate the hospital policies and routine practices. Our plan to have an intervention free birth was the opposite of what that hospital practiced. We all left healthy but felt unheard and not believed in. After this I became interested in hearing other birth stories and was surprised by how beautiful and inspiring some of these stories were! I realized that the difference between my story and others that I heard, was that their providers and birth team believed in them, heard them and gave them full support on their birthing wishes. This was extremely eye opening to me, it didn’t matter whether it was a home or hospital birth, the confidence gained through a supported birth experience helped the birthing person trust in themselves and transition into parenthood with that confidence and love. This is why I decided to begin my practice as a doula.

I truly believe a Doula really makes a difference in your birth experience. With a little extra prenatal prepping you can walk into the room feeling empowered.

“Cecily’s very presence during my labor was so reassuring to my husband and myself. She stayed by my side through it all reminding me to drink, move, and maybe try and use the restroom. We can’t imagine going through such an experience without her. Her support is unmatched.”

"Cecily was truly there from the start. The meetings she gave my husband and I via zoom were incredible... She taught my husband and I so much as far as laboring together and working through the pain. Coping skills that were surprisingly helpful in the time of intense labor! It was so sweet to see my husband jump into action and trying all the techniques and positions Cecily taught us in the class... We received an informative book that she guided us through each week... There is something about being able to confide in someone during a special time of your life; there is an unforgettable friendship that forms when someone is apart of your journey for memorable moments such as the birth of your child. You will not go wrong with choosing Cecily as your doula for your family. She is an amazing person and such a sweet and caring soul. 💕🙏”

“Though our time together felt short, you helped us in many ways and our birth experience would not have been the same without you. Our prenatal meetings were always informative and covered a variety of topics. The resources you were able to share with us were very useful tools as well, we even had them on hand at the hospital. You are so calm, supportive and knowledgeable.”

"Our experience with Cecily as our doula... was truly a blessing. After having two children 9 years apart and now 10 years, I felt like I needed to prepare and have a little more support... There was so much we didn’t know about our options and choices for birth and Cecily helped us become more educated and plan for a more supported birth... She is such a kind and caring person and... very knowledgeable!... One of the deal breakers for us was that Cecily is bilingual in Spanish... She was not only 100% supportive through the last trimester of pregnancy and birth, but she also took photos of our baby during our post partum visits... We now consider Cecily like part of our family, as she helped bring our beautiful baby girl to this world. Thank you so much for being our support and Doula”

"Having a baby is amazing but challenging and is even more during COVID. I couldn't have my family or friends close because of that it was just my husband and Cecily with me. She hold my hand and she always made sure that I had everything that I needed to feel the most comfortable possible during labor she went beyond a doula she was an Angel. She got me a lot of information during my pregnancy and answer a lot of questions that concern me. She is an amazing person and if I have another baby in the future I hope she will be part of that journey again."
